Ethics

Today I have been researching into ethical and environmental issues within the textiles industry. I have looked at what is OK when designing. I was really interested in when big companies have taken ideas from designers without permission.
Forever 21 is a popular american clothes company. Over the past couple of years Forever 21 has been repeatedly sued for using peoples designs without permission, but getting away with it by paying them out. When looking into the designs they have stole I noticed that they haven't even tried to changed the design to make it there own. They have literally just copied it.

Here is an example of how they have taken a t shirt design from a boutique called Bark Decor.

I then looked at different types of Photoshop manipulation images. The goal of the fashion industry is to try and make people feel bad about themselves so that they will buy the product and make them feel better about themselves. Photo-shopping the models creates an image of perfection and makes people believe that they should look like someone that's is not even real. I think this is wrong as it sends out a bad message to people as they believe that there is only one type of way you should look.
These images show the type of things photo shop can do and how even models are not perfect.
